June Favorites

Hope you all have been having a wonderful start to your summer! Mine has definitely been a roller coaster ride. Check out my June Favorites video to find out where I have been all month and what I have been loving during that time. I talk about my updated foundation routine for the summer and rediscovering my love of playing with color.

P.S. My blog has been hella dry because I am working on a new one. Follow me on my social media outlets or subscribe to this blog to receive an email update when I switch over to my new site.

Beauty Obsessions: Winter 2014 Edition

I’m taking a break from filming tutorials while I’m in brow rehab. In the meantime, check out my current beauty favorites from recent purchases.

Let me know what are your current must haves or recent discoveries in a comment below.

Get To Know Me: TMI Tag

Things got a little personal in this TMI Tag. I tend to be more of a private person but I decided to let loose a bit and ended up having a lot of fun answering the random questions. Now I want to start a Q&A series on my channel. You can submit questions by leaving a comment underneath this post or use #askDRB on Twitter. Don’t be shy! Ask me anything and I’ll pick a few questions to answer in the upcoming video.

Haul: Tom Ford, YSL & Chanel

photo

This haul’s theme was “mo’ money, mo’ problems.” I’m testing the waters of the luxury beauty world and I was less than enthused when I spent more on a particular item and the sticker shock exacerbated gripes that would have probably been minor had I paid a much lower price. I know it is unrealistic, but I expect 100% satisfaction from the Tom Ford’s and Chanel’s of the world. But like anything else, it will take trial and error to find each brand’s strengths and weaknesses according to my taste.

Tutorial: Pop of Color Eye Makeup

I’m super excited to share this makeup tutorial I made for Seventeen Magazine featuring a crazy pop of green on the eyes that is perfect for the spring , which can’t come any sooner. I was over the winter before it started and with good reason – this year has been brutal.

Haul: Hourglass, Urban Decay, Drugstore & More

It has been a few weeks since I filmed a haul video but don’t think I have not been shopping lol. I will say I have been doing better and researching before going crazy and picking up, for example, Hourglass’ Ambient Lighting Blush in every color (confession: I have barely had a chance to play with the two I mentioned in the video and I already want to add Luminous Flush to the collection). Click here to check out my latest purchases that I am so excited about.

Tutorial: Neutral Makeup For Date Night

Date Night Makeup Tutorial

When it comes to a Valentine’s Day look, for me it is more about the outfit than the makeup. It inspired me to create a neutral look that won’t compete with what you decide to wear. I added some sparkle on the lid and an insane cheekbone highlight for those of us who can’t go without at least a little bit drama. Click here to watch the tutorial.

Tutorial: Stila Magnificent Metals Foil Finish Eye Shadow

Stila Magnificent Metals Foil Finish Eye Shadow Tutorial

I am so pale that I am going to need to start putting Instagram filters on these pictures. New York is so out of control this winter that summertime can’t come soon enough. Needless to say I have been spending a lot of time at home playing with makeup. One of the products that I am totally obsessed with is the Stila Magnificent Metals Foil Finish Eye Shadow. I love a metallic lid and this product gives me the ultimate version of that look. It can be a little tricky and require some back and forth to find the perfect balance between the amount of eye shadow and primer to get a smooth application but the results are worth it for me. Click here to watch the tutorial to get the look above using the Comex Gold shade. I am a little disappointed that the camera (it is going to take some practice for me to figure out the perfect settings) did not capture the true richness and vibrancy of the lipstick. In person it is much stronger and brighter reddish pink color. If you’re feeling timid swap it out for your signature nude. Hope you enjoy the video!
